TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR VCservice via VOOV MEETING

  1. GENERAL
    1. Through your interactions with the customer service representative(s) as designated to you from time to time (“Customer Service Representative(s)”) by China Life Insurance (Overseas) Company Limited (incorporated in the People’s Republic of China with limited liability) or its successors and assigns (collectively, “the Company”, “we, or “us”) in an online chat room using the video conferencing software known as Tencent Voov Meeting (“Voov Meeting”), you are provided with certain online customer services as determined by us at our sole discretion from time to time. For the avoidance of doubt, Voov Meeting is not a software developed and maintained by the Company.
    2. You must read these terms and conditions set forth herein for Voov Meeting (these “Terms and Conditions”) carefully before interacting with the Customer Service Representative(s) using Voov Meeting.
    3. These Terms and Conditions are in addition to and shall be read in conjunction with the following documents issued by the Company (as they are amended from time to time by the Company):

      (a) the Online Security statement (https://www.chinalife.com.hk/online-security) (“Online Security Statement”);

      (b) the Privacy Policy (https://www.chinalife.com.hk/privacy-policy/privacy-policy-clio) and Personal Information Collection Statement (https://www.chinalife.com.hk/privacy-policy/personal-information-collection-statement-clio) (collectively, the “Personal Data Documents”); and

      (c) any other rules, terms, conditions or documents governing or forming part of the relationship between you and the Company (collectively, the “Applicable Terms”).

    4. In the event of any inconsistency among these Terms and Conditions and the documents set out in 1.3 above, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.
    5. By clicking the “Join VCservice” button and start using Voov Meeting to interact with the Customer Service Representative(s), you shall be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the documents set out in 1.3 above and to have acknowledged that you understand the inherent risks of using Voov Meeting.
    6. These Terms and Conditions and the documents set out in 1.3 above may be amended by us from time to time at our sole discretion. Following such amendments, if you continue to use Voov Meeting to interact with the Customer Service Representative(s), you will be deemed to have agreed to such amendments.
  2. SECURITY
    1. You shall be responsible for the security of your computer, mobile device and your security details (including your login details). The Company will not be liable to any loss or damage suffered by you arising from or connected with your use of Voov Meeting to interact with the Customer Service Representative(s) due to the failure of your computer and mobile device, the disclosure of your security details to any third parties or your omission or failure to take security measures.
    2. You may be responsible for unauthorized instructions made in respect of your insurance policy(ies) if you have not kept your device and your security details (including your login details) safe or if you have failed to take security measures. If you have acted fraudulently, you will be held liable for all losses.
    3. You should stay vigilant to fake or fraudulent messages purportedly sent from us. You are advised not to access Voov Meeting for the purpose of interacting with the Customer Service Representative(s) through hyperlinks in any third-party websites or mobile applications not authorized by us.
    4. We have a right to delay acting or refuse to act on any instruction given to us during your interaction with the Customer Service Representative(s) by using the Voov Meeting if we are aware of any suspicious circumstances relating to the use of Voov Meeting.
  3. LIABILITY
    1. Due to the nature of the Internet, the Company does not warrant that when you are using Voov Meeting to interact with the Customer Service Representative(s), it will be free from intervention, delay, interruption, errors, viruses or other malicious programs. We do not represent or warrant that your interactions with the Customer Service Representative(s) via Voov Meeting will not be subject to interruption, transmission blackout, delayed transmission or incorrect data transmission or that no viruses or other contaminating or destructive properties will be transmitted or that no damage will occur to your computer or mobile device. The Company is not liable for malfunctions in communications facilities beyond our control that may affect the accuracy of the content or timeliness of delivery of the communication between you and the Customer Service Representative(s) via Voov Meeting. You are solely responsible for adequate protection and back up of your computer and mobile device and for undertaking reasonable and appropriate precautions to scan for viruses or other contaminating or destructive properties.
    2. We do not represent or confirm the accuracy, functionality and performance of any third party software and/or applications that may be used in connection with Voov Meeting for the purpose of interacting with the Customer Service Representative(s).
    3. To the extent permissible by the applicable laws, the Company disclaims any liability for any loss, damages, costs and/or other expenses, whether direct, indirect, incidental or consequential, which you may incur as a result of your use or access to Voov Meeting for the purpose of interacting with the Customer Service Representative(s). The Company does not guarantee that any messages sent or communication via Voov Meeting or otherwise over the Internet will be completely secure.
    4. Voov Meeting may be linked to other applications and websites which are not operated by the Company. The inclusion of any link to such other applications and websites does not imply that the Company has approved of or endorsed such other applications and websites or the contents thereof. The Company disclaims any liability for such other applications and websites or the contents thereof. You shall bear the relevant risks when using or browsing such other applications and websites.
    5. Your interaction with the Customer Service Representative(s) using Voov Meeting is only provided to you upon your written requests for the purpose of acting on your specific instruction(s).
    6. Information provided by Customer Service Representative(s) via Voov Meeting shall not constitute and shall not be construed as any professional advice, or any offer, solicitation or recommendation to the purchase or sale of any insurance products or services in any jurisdictions, and is for reference only and may be valid for a limited time.
    7. You acknowledge and agree that we can terminate your use of Voov Meeting for the purpose of interacting with the Customer Service Representative(s) at our sole discretion. You shall indemnify us from all loss and damage which we may incur in connection with your breach of any terms and conditions applicable to the use of Voov Meeting.
  4. SCOPE OF THE SERVICES
    1. The scope of services that we may provide to you via Voov Meeting will be determined by us from time to time at our sole discretion, and you may not be notified of changes to the range or nature of customer services covered. You acknowledge and agree that the ranges and nature of Voov Meeting are limited and will be determined by us from time to time at our sole discretion.
    2. We may, via the Customer Service Representative(s) or otherwise, seek to verify your identity by any means that we may in our sole discretion before and/or during your use of Voov Meeting. You acknowledge and agree that, upon verification of your identity, we may, via the Customer Service Representative(s), execute specific instruction(s) that you give via Voov Meeting.
  5. PERSONAL DATA
    1. We, via the Customer Service Representative(s), may collect, use, retain, disclose, transfer and access your personal data for the purpose of providing you with our services via Voov Meeting in accordance with the Personal Data Documents.
    2. As set out in 4.2 above, before and/or during the use of the Voov Meeting, your identity may be verified by any means that we may in our sole discretion.
    3. In accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, and our internal policies (including but not limited to the Personal Data Documents), we will retain all communication between you and the Customer Service Representative(s) via Voov Meeting, including any of your personal data, for record-keeping, analysis, training, quality control and complaint handling purposes.
    4. All communication records kept by us shall be final and conclusive. You agree that we may use such records as evidence in any dispute with you.
    5. You may refer to the Personal Data Documents for more information relating to our collection, use, retention, disclosure, transfer and access of your personal data and our policies relating to the same.
  6. MISCELLANEOUS
    1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“Hong Kong”). By interacting with the Customer Service Representative(s) via Voov Meeting, you shall be deemed to have submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts. If you access Voov Meeting outside Hong Kong, you must observe relevant laws and regulations in relevant jurisdictions.
    2. These Terms and Conditions are available in English and Chinese versions. The Chinese version shall prevail in the event of any inconsistency between the two versions.
